Blogging with passion
A friend of mine recently asked why I blog, given that I am (at the moment) the only person who consistently follows my site. The question hadn’t really occured to me up till then, so I sat down and thought about it for a while
The first thing I found was that I love the fact that I finally have an outlet to express myself in; something that I can use to spill ideas, observation, and thoughts in. I really do use my blog as a private diary that others can read - a sort of bookmarks folder for my mind, if you will - and I find myself consistently looking back over older posts.
I love the feeling I get from writing for the fun of it. Nearly all of the time I spend typing comes from working on school assignments, so I never get to write about stuff that interests me. Having a place where I can jot down anything de-stresses me and will hopefully improve my storytelling and spelling - I’m already finding a huge increase in accuracy on the later.
And lastly, blogging gives me a chance to share my passions with the rest of the world. The best bloggers all talk about something they’re passionate about; for some it’s typography, for others the environment and yet others its the newest gadgets. I’m fascinated with web design and development, particularly in small startups. Now, any time I see something that catches my attention, makes me think, or blows me away, I can share it with the rest of the world - at least, the chosen few who follow along
